A man who admitted
desecrating 20 Jewish graves with swastikas and anti-Semitic slogans in
Auckland is set to be sentenced on Wednesday.
Robert Moulden, 19, admitted charges of intentional damage in November last year following the desecration of the headstones in the historic cemetery in Karangahape Road on October 19.
He has since undergone restorative justice sessions with the Jewish community, where he has learned about the Holocaust and shared a Shabbat dinner.
He will be sentenced in Auckland District Court on Wednesday.
A co-accused, 20-year-old Christian Landmark, continues to deny the charges and will have a defended hearing in June.
Police dropped a charge against a third man arrested following the cemetery incident, saying there was insufficient evidence to carry a robust prosecution.
