Two of three men arrested by police investigating a pedophile ring have pleaded guilty to charges.
Aaron John Ellmers, 41, on Tuesday admitted 60 child sex charges when he appeared in Hastings District Court.
The charges include sexual violation of children, stupefying, making an intimate visual recording, dealing in people for sexual exploitation and attempted sexual conduct with a child under 12.
His admission follows that of a 24-year-old Auckland man facing 18 charges of possessing objectionable material and two of distribution of objectionable material.
The 24-year-old, who has name suppression, admitted all 20 charges when he appeared in Auckland District Court last week and will be sentenced in April, a police spokeswoman told NZ Newswire.
The third person arrested will make his first appearance in court in the South Island next week facing 40 charges.
Detective Senior Sergeant John Michael, head of the Online Child Exploitation Across New Zealand unit, said the operation had saved four New Zealand children, ranging in age from 13 months to 13 years, from further abuse.
Police had made 35 referrals to several Virtual Global Taskforce members, including Australia, United Kingdom, United States and Canada.
The organisation is an international alliance of law enforcement agencies working together to prevent and deter online child abuse.
Ellmers, who has been remanded in custody, will be sentenced in the High Court, where the Crown is expected to seek a preventive detention sentence.
He had previously been jailed in Australia for the sex abuse of an eight-year-old boy.
