Mr Collins denies harassing girlfriend Anna Larke
But in police interviews read at St Albans Crown Court, Mr Collins said he had only ever tried to "calm" down Ms Larke when she was "self-harming".
Mr Collins, who denies harassment, causing fear of violence, said: "I have never hit anyone in my life."
Ms Larke has claimed Mr Collins attacked her in their Miami hotel room in March 2011.
Mr Collins said Ms Larke had once gouged her own wrists and threatened to kill herself.
Describing a "screaming fit" during a relapse in the hotel room, he said: "She would have episodes and I would try to calm her down.
"She was saying 'You are going to hit me, you are going to hit me', and I was saying 'What are you talking about?'
"I have never hit anyone in my life.
"I don't know where what she was saying comes from.
"A man came to the hotel room to ask if everything was all right."

TV presenter Justin Lee Collins has told a court he has "never hit anyone" in his life.
Mr Collins, 38, is accused of slapping and harassing his ex-partner Anna Larke between January and August last year.But in police interviews read at St Albans Crown Court, Mr Collins said he had only ever tried to "calm" down Ms Larke when she was "self-harming".
