British Prime Minister David Cameron on Tuesday called a
suspected chemical weapons attack in Syria “absolutely abhorrent” and
said that his country was considering a “proportionate” response that
would prevent future chemical attacks, Reuters reported.
Cameron's spokesman said that British armed forces were “making
contingency plans” and that while a military response was on the table,
the country had not committed to such an action yet.
The spokesman also said that whatever response Cameron decided on would “be taken under a strict international framework,” and that Cameron would be talking with other world leaders throughout the next few days to ensure a coordinated response.
Cameron's statement follows a statement by U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry which many believe suggests the U.S. is preparing some kind of military intervention against Bashar Assad's regime.
