Britain says Syria action needed, preparing response

British Prime Minister David Cameron on Tuesday called a suspected chemical weapons attack in Syria “absolutely abhorrent” and said that his country was considering a “proportionate” response that would prevent future chemical attacks, Reuters reported.

Cameron's spokesman said that British armed forces were “making contingency plans” and that while a military response was on the table, the country had not committed to such an action yet.
The spokesman said Cameron will announce later today whether he will recall the British Parliament, currently in summer recess, back to London to have a say on the matter.
The spokesman also said that whatever response Cameron decided on would “be taken under a strict international framework,” and that Cameron would be talking with other world leaders throughout the next few days to ensure a coordinated response.
Cameron's statement follows a statement by U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry which many believe suggests the U.S. is preparing some kind of military intervention against Bashar Assad's regime.
